The world witnessed the devastation caused by a drone strike on critical facilities when Houthi rebels in Yemen struck two major oil facilities run by the state-owned company Aramco in Saudi Arabia. The swarm drone attack caused large fires, resulting in both facilities being shut down, cutting Saudi Arabia’s oil production by around half – representing approximately five percent of global oil production.

Drone threats constitute a significant factor in ports and harbour safety and security measures worldwide, these entry and exit points function as arteries for major cities/countries and may also house hazardous, and potentially explosive chemicals and substances.
